Privacy Policy
Effective 7 September 2026
The short version: there's no account and no login. Your goal, your reasons, and your Screen Time selections stay on your phone. We do receive pseudonymous product-usage events (onboarding steps, feature taps, gate outcomes, notification status, purchase status) through a third-party analytics processor so we can see where the app is confusing people — never the words you actually write.
01Who we are
Goal Lock ("the app," "we") is an iOS app that stands your own stated goal in front of apps you've chosen to gate, published at goallock.talismandaily.com by the makers of TALISMAN. Questions: support@talismandaily.com.
02What stays on your device only
The following never leaves your phone, is never sent to us, and is not visible to us at any point:
- Your Screen Time app selections. Apple's Screen Time frameworks (FamilyControls) hand your selection to the app as opaque, non-identifying tokens — by design, not even Goal Lock can read back which literal apps you picked.
- The words in your goals, reasons, daily actions, and ledger.
This data lives in local app storage on your iPhone. Deleting the app deletes it. If you use iCloud device backups, Apple may include it in your own backup under Apple's terms — that backup is yours, not ours.
03What we do collect: pseudonymous product analytics
Goal Lock sends pseudonymous behavioral events — app opened, which onboarding screen you're on, a plan was selected, a purchase succeeded, a gate fired, or notification permission or scheduling changed — to PostHog, a third-party product-analytics processor, so we can see where people drop off and fix it. These events carry structural metadata such as screen or feature names, counts, timestamps, button IDs, plan state, permission or reminder status, and in a few cases the length of what you typed (for example, "43 characters"), never the content itself. A persistent app-generated identifier lets us measure activity in one install, but does not identify you by name.
We disable PostHog UI capture, surveys, session replay, person profiles, push-token capture, and IP-based location enrichment. It may add pseudonymous technical app and device context to the explicit events we send. We do not use that context for advertising or cross-app tracking. Your Screen Time selections, goal text, your why, and anything else you write are excluded from every event by design.
We also use RevenueCat in observer mode to track subscription revenue. It observes the same purchase transactions Apple already processes (see below) for reporting — it does not run your purchase flow and does not receive your payment details.
04Purchases
Subscriptions and the lifetime unlock are processed entirely by Apple through your Apple Account. We never receive your card number or billing address. StoreKit and RevenueCat provide pseudonymous transaction and revenue reporting. Apple's handling of your purchase data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
05Notifications
The evening reminder and trial-ending nudge are local notifications scheduled by your phone itself using Apple's on-device notification framework. No push-notification server is involved. We send pseudonymous analytics about notification permission and reminder scheduling status, but not notification contents, your goal, or your daily action.
06Children
The app is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and the identifiable-content categories above (goal text, daily action) are never collected from anyone regardless of age.
07Your choices
You can disable the evening reminder in iOS notification settings at any time. Deleting the app removes every piece of on-device data described in Section 02. Pseudonymous product-analytics records are held by our processor under its retention controls; email us at the address below if you need help with a privacy request.
08Changes to this policy
If a future version of the app changes what's collected — adding a new analytics vendor, for instance — we'll update this page first and move the effective date above. Material changes will also be noted in the app's App Store release notes.
